This is a fantastic product to ensure your lenses are autofocusing product and apply AFMA if they are not. Yes, you can get a somewhat similar result by printing your own chart off the internet and using that as a reference, but the Datacolor SpyderLensCal is much superior as it offers a high quality plastic that will not bend like cardboard and is extremely easy to setup. In addition, this product offers both the ruler and directly next to it a high contrast target; this can help if the autofocus center point of your camera is not sensitive to horizontal lines, as is the case with many cameras (even some high end ones). With this, I was able to confirm my f/1.2 lenses were autofocusing properly, and I found testing with this product easy and repeatable. It has a tripod mount as well.
