Datacolor SpyderCheckr SCK100

Using this color checker was pretty straight forward and easy in my raw workflow. Like any other color checker tools for calibration, Spydercheckr does a wonderful job, instantly and conveniently. This quick process improves the color accuracy in my photos even further. The difference might be subtle for some, yet it is very important for others reproducing accurate and consistent colors. It is rather big in my opinion (compare to x-rite's passport) but in a studio environment it is ok to be that size (slightly smaller than iPad). The built quality is good and designed nicely. The silver plastic surface is kind of scratch prone, yet if I take good care of it; it shouldn't be a too much issue. The tripod thread on the bottom is nice feature for the ones who needed, otherwise, it has no problem standing flat. I also liked how the charts are reversible and replaceable. The reverse side shows grey scales, and this is useful for a quick in camera custom white balance setup. Datacolor SpyderChecker Pro SCKP100

Photographers who actually see their images through to print will benefit most from this product. Sadly, most people (clients) are no longer printing images. Instead, social media sharing and electronic picture frames are taking over. Therefore, most people are viewing our images on non-color calibrated, color space limited, and highly inaccurate monitors; so much so, I actually use a second cheap monitor for checking to see how my images will look to most people. Arguably, such precision in shooting is lost on many end-users. If you are looking for a less expensive product that does not include the Datacolor SpyderCube SC200, checkout the Datacolor SpyderCheckr SCK100. I have used the Spyder Cube and find it very accurate for white balance, though more expensive than a standard white balance card you can get for a few dollars.
